Challengers Queue Up For Golovkin

ggg

After GGG’s stunning victory over Kell Brook at the weekend, the potential suitors for Golovkin’s next opponent have already made themselves known – knowing the status and purse size that a fight against the new unified champion.

With that in mind we’ve compiled a list of the most likely contenders to fight Golovkin next.

Chris Eubank Jnr
Probably the most controversial option and controversial tweet in the aftermath of the Kell Brook fight, Chris Eubank Jnr provides a genuine option for Golovkin however he may feel that he’s already too big for a fight with Eubank.

That of course remains to be seen, and Eubank Jnr put himself in the shop window by posting a tweet featuring a photo of the fighter alongside the quote “if you want a fight with a real British Middleweight… come get some. My corner don’t own towels.”

Controversial indeed.

Meanwhile promoter Frank Warren has branded Eubank’s tweet as “disgusting” in the wake of Kell Brook’s defeat.

Billy Joe Saunders
WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has also demanded a fight with Golovkin after his October 29th fight in Manchester on the card of Fury/Klitschko 2.

Presuming Billy Joe Saunders emerges from the fight victorious, he will feel he is in a strong position to go toe-to-toe with GGG when the decision is made.

Promoter Frank Warren has hinted that discussions have already begun and he is aiming for that fight to be held in the UK just like the Brook/Golovkin bout.

Daniel Jacobs
Daniel Jacobs is the man that Golovkin has apparently been ordered to fight next (within 120 days) according to the WBA.

The American is eager to get into the ring with Golovkin posting a series of tweets calling out the man from Kazakhstan.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez
The one man who hasn’t tweeted about Golovkin that may well be the ideal next fight is Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The Mexican is currently focused on his upcoming fight against Liam Smith where his WBO world title is on the line.

Canelo has previously stated that he will eventually fight GGG, however we may just have to wait a little longer for this super-fight

Summary
‘Who’s next?’ is the question on everyone’s lips but my gut feeling is that we’ll see Golovkin take a short break and enjoy his time in the spotlight. Pound for pound one of the best fighters on the planet right now, he will evidently haave the pick of his challengers come his next bout.
