Brook biggest test of all for Golovkin

With their middleweight clash now just under a month away, Gennady Golovkin believes that Kell Brook will provide him with the biggest test of his career to date when the duo clash at the O2 Arena in London.

With IBF Welterweight Champion Brook having stepped up two weight divisions to take on Golovkin, the Kazakhstani fighter is understandably the favourite in the boxing odds from bookmakers. The 34-year-old has won each of his 35 professional contests to date, with 32 coming by way of knockout. The WBC, IBF and WBO Middleweight titles will be on the line in London next month, with Golovkin not taking his British opponent lightly, despite being the overwhelming favourite.

Kell Brook weighed in at almost a stone heavier than his opponent at the 30-day check in, writing off those in the boxing world who believed Golovkin’s natural strength would be too much for the Brit. You can get on the chin boxing odds of 1/6 on for Golovkin to claim an expected win, while Brook is offered outsider odds of 4/1.

Elsewhere in the boxing in 2016, ahead of his contest with Canelo Alvarez, Liam Smith has predicted a knockout victory over his Mexican opponent. Alvarez is arguably the most celebrated boxer still competing, and the duo will collide at the AT&T Arena on September 17. British fighter Smith has played down concerns over Canelo’s weight, with the Mexican known for adding at least 20 pounds on fight night. Canelo recently overcame Amir Khan in one of the fights of the year, and is favourite in the boxing odds at Coral for another victory, at 1/10 on. 28-year-old Smith is coming off the back of a second-round knockout victory over Predrag Radosevic in June, having suffered just one professional career defeat to date.

A win for both Golovkin and Canelo would likely set up a box office clash between the undefeated duo, with boxing fans worldwide eagerly anticipating such a bout. The boxing odds from Coral are currently too close to call in their boxing betting market.
